Neil Greenwood, BSc
Neil is an MSc student investigating the role of E. coli cell division protein FtsK and its role in cell pole synthesis during bacterial cell division. He is using a combination of glycan-omics, protein localization imaging, and fluorescent ᴅ-amino acid incorporation to study changes in E. coli peptidoglycan composition, synthesis, and incorporation resulting from inhibition or disruption of FtsK function. Neil completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph, majoring in microbiology. He previously completed a 4th year research project under the direction of Dr. Janet Wood, studying the osmosensing E. coli membrane transporter ProP.
